The money

How the money works

Who gets what on every sale

On top of the price, the buyer pays a 6% marketplace service fee on every purchase, first sale or resale. It is shown before you pay. A $20 card checks out at $21.20, and the athlete's 80% is unchanged.

Prices

The athlete sets the price of each card. The floor is $20 and there is no ceiling. The suggested range shown to athletes is conservative guidance based on the Seal and the edition size, and nothing more; it is not a valuation.

How payment moves

Card and bank payments go through our payment processor, which pays the athlete, the seller and Next Up directly. Next Up never holds buyer or athlete money. Athlete payouts settle with the sale and land in a connected bank account on the processor's normal schedule, usually within two business days. Identity is verified before any payout; there are no anonymous sellers.

What the fee covers

Payment processing, the cost of minting on Base, and running the marketplace. The fee is the same on a first sale and a resale so there is only one number to remember.

Refunds

Cards are digital goods and a completed purchase is final, the same as a concert ticket. If a purchase fails partway, so that you were charged and the card was never delivered, we refund it.

If Next Up shuts down

The contract that holds the cards has a sunset clause. If the platform stops responding for long enough (a ninety-day heartbeat, then one hundred eighty days of silence, then a ninety-day release window), transfers open and every holder can move their cards anywhere. Nobody, including us, can switch that off.

Cards are collectibles, not investments.
